Malaysia Airlines has decided to offer its passenger seats inventory and related travel and tourism services to customers in China through TravelSky Technology Limited (TravelSky). (1/19/2007)This initiative is to commence from end-March 2007. Under the agreement signed today, about 7,000 travel agents with 35,000 terminals in 300 cities in China, will have access to Malaysia Airlines’ flights and tickets booking reservation system, KOMMAS, and also its net fares through the Computer Reservation System (CRS) operated by TravelSky. According to the airline, through the system’s direct communication link with SITA, all Billing Settlement Plan (BSP) travel agents in China will have access to the comprehensive distribution system, which allows them to streamline and consolidate all bookings and subsequent settlement to Malaysia Airlines. Malaysia Airlines commercial director Rashid Khan said, “Currently, 70 percent of our sales in China are derived from travel agents. As a leading provider of information technology solutions for China’s air travel and tourism industries, we are confident that TravelSky CRS will generate higher sales for us and increase turnover for our agents in China”. The partnership will include co-training and other co-marketing activities for travel agents to better understand Malaysia Airlines’ products and services. Moving forward, the TravelSky system will facilitate all Malaysia Airlines’ reservations needs in China including the Passenger Services System (PSS) and e-ticketing by the end of this year.
